Maidenhead is a town in Berkshire, on the River Thames and about 5 miles northwest of Windsor. It was once an important staging post on the road between London and Bath which is famed for a seven-arched road bridge from the 1777 and its 19th century rail bridge which is illustrated in Turners painting: Rain, Steam and Speed.
