Okehampton is a market town in Devon, on the River Okement, at the northern edge of Dartmoor and about 22 miles west of Exeter. It came to prosperity in the Middles Ages on the back of a strong wool trade. Okehampton has a castle that overlooks the river but has never been the same since Henry VIII turned an unfavourable attention to it. Surrounding the town are some fantastic locations, including, the heights of High Willhays and Yes Tor to the south and Abbeyford Woods to the north.
