Lydney is a town in Gloucestershire, on the west bank of the River Severn, at the southern tip of the Forest of Dean and roughly 16 miles out of Gloucester. The town is beautifully historic and boasts Lydney Park which contains prehistoric and Roman-British remains at the site on the top of Camp Hill. The site was first inhabited as early as 1bc and includes: a hill fort as well as the only Roman iron workings extant in Britain and the remnants of a pagan Roman Temple.
