Holt is a charismatic market town in Norfolk, less than 10 miles west of Cromer. The name, Holt perhaps stems from Anglo Saxon times, perhaps referring to the woodland that peppered the high ground of Cromer Ridge, upon which the town is situated. Holt is ubiquitous with Georgian buildings, the large majority of which replaced many medieval buildings after a catastrophic fire during the early 1700s. Holt resides in the popular tourist county of Norfolk which is synonymous with fine sandy beaches, such as the one at Cromer. It is also well regarded for its Broads and many Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
