Northampton is a town in Northamptonshire, on the River Nene, about 15 miles north of Milton Keynes. Northampton has an extensive history, but was severely damaged by fire in 1675 so almost all of its most impressive buildings post date the event. Its market square is said to be the largest in England, the town also boasts an Eleanor Cross, and also a 19th century Roman Catholic cathedral. Northampton has plenty to see and do all decorated with a celebrated and historic flavour.
