Lichfield is a cathedral city in Staffordshire, 13 miles southwest of Stafford and 13 miles northeast of Wolverhampton. The city is largely characterised by some fine, lasting Georgian architecture but is dominated by the red sandstone of Lichfield Cathedral and its stunning "Ladies of the Vale". Outside the city the county offers some hilly, wild moorland in the north and Cannock Chase - An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - in the south.
