Egham is a salubrious town in Surrey just south of the infamous Staines, and south of the River Thames. It is effectively a south-western suburb of London but is particularly spacious, an attribute not often associated with towns within the London suburbs. Egham boasts the remains of the earliest known river harbour in Britain and is thought to date back to the 8th century. It also lies at the foot of the well respected Coopers Hill.
