Accommodation in Malmesbury

Malmesbury is a hilltop market town in Wiltshire on the River Avon about 15 miles west of Swindon. Interestingly, it is one of the oldest boroughs in England, having gained its charter by Alfred the Great in AD 880. Malmesbury is dominated by the gaunt ruins of the former Benedictine abbey which was founded in the 7th century. Malmesbury must be noted for its fantastic geography, its two rivers are separated by a high isthmus, and the hilltop contains many freshwater springs, which were regarded as holy wells since the 7th century. Malmesbury's diverse and interesting scenery makes for pleasant and surprising exploration.
