Bournemouth Tourist Guide

Bournemouth is one of the UK’s favourite holiday hotspots and when you pay a visit then it’s quite clear just why. With seven miles of wonderful beaches and its own exceptionally warm microclimate, it’s the perfect holiday destination for all ages and interests.


Located on the south coast of England, as well as the wonderful beach that looks out onto the amazing English Channel, Bournemouth has a dazzling array of shops, hotels and bed and breakfast accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets. It also boasts some of the best restaurants on the south coast as well as a wide range of bars, clubs and nightclubs.

Bournemouth Attractions

The number one attraction in Bournemouth is no surprise… the beach. The seven miles of beach have some of the warmest sea temperatures in the UK as well as offering stunning views of the Isle of Wight. Whether you love a stroll along the shoreline, a relaxing dip in the sea, lazing on a sunlounger or enjoying one of the many forms of watersports, the beach is the place for you.

If you prefer your nature to be green then the Lower Gardens are a wonderful place to visit and is particularly good for families. With beautiful gardens, it is the perfect place for a picnic. There are various activities available including crazy golf as well as a popular cafe and ice cream kiosk. Other attractions in and around Bournemouth include theme parks, farms, wildlife centres and aquariums as well as various boat trips and steam train trips.

Shopping In Bournemouth

Bournemouth is a great place to shop and its pedestrianised high street is a delightful mix of well known high street names and vibrant independent shops. There’s a great selection of cafes and other features too for when you need a break from the retail therapy. Bournemouth’s Open Air Market is well worth a visit as are Westbourne and Southbourne, where you will find an eclectic mix of independent shops.

Eating And Drinking In Bournemouth

As you would expect with Bournemouth being one of the best resorts in the UK, there are a wide range of food and drink establishments in the town. As well as traditional fish and chips there are a whole host of food options from high class fine dining establishments to pubs offering fine traditional British fayre. There are a diverse array of bars and pubs in the town and the nightlife is friendly and vibrant.
