Liverpool Tourist Guide

Liverpool is one of the UK’s most vibrant cities, an iconic place that is one of the best cities to visit when you come on holiday in the UK.


Located in the North West of England, it is easy accessible from all areas from the UK, with Manchester being just an hour away and London just a two hour train ride away.

The Beatles

Liverpool is perhaps best known for being the home to the world’s most famous band, the Beatles. Comprised of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, the Beatles were formed in the city in 1960 and went on to dominate the world of pop.

Visitors from around the world flock to iconic Beatles places such as Penny Lane and Strawberry Field but the Cavern Club is the most popular. The bar where the Beatles first played, it is located on Matthews Street which is an exciting mix of pubs, bars and restaurants.

Liverpool Football Club

Football is Liverpool’s other passion and no visit to Liverpool should be without a visit to one of its famous football grounds. Liverpool’s Anfield ground and Everton’s Goodison Park have been host to some of the best players to ever grace the game.

Locals are fanatical and you will find that every local that you meet is either a ‘red’ (Liverpool) or a ‘blue’, (Everton).

Museums in Liverpool

Liverpool is a city of museums and millions of visitors every year explore their seven museums. Here you can experience some of the world’s best modern art at the Tate Liverpool or entertain the kids at the ever popular World Museum Liverpool which has lots of hands on activities and exhibitions.

Other favourites include the Lady Lever Art Gallery, the International Slavery Museum, the Merseyside Maritime Museum and of course the popular Beatles Story.

Shopping in Liverpool

Liverpool is one of the best shopping cities in the UK. The city is home to hundreds of shops in a range of its districts, and visitors can choose from city centre shopping centres, boutique arcades and bohemian streets. The Liverpool ONE is its latest retail addition. Located in the heart of the city centre, it is the massive open-air shopping district that has over 160 high street and designer shops.

Eating And Drinking In Liverpool

As you would expect for such a vibrant city, Liverpool is home to a wide range of pubs, bars and restaurants. The city centre is well served with food from around the world to suit all budgets as well as a good number of pubs and nightclubs. For a bit of a different night out in Liverpool, head out into the suburbs and go to Lark Lane. A bustling road full of bars, restaurants and clubs, it really is one of Liverpool’s hidden gems.
