Manchester Tourist Guide

The city of Manchester has more recently been known for its contribution to the music scene thanks to bands such as Oasis, The Smiths, New Order and The Stone Roses. Rapidly becoming the UK’s second city, there’s so much to do and explore in Manchester that a second visit may have to be in order!

Things To Do In Manchester

Museums abound in Manchester, with both the Manchester Museum and the Museum of Science and INdustry being very popular. For football fans, there is also the National Football Museum too and no visit to Manchester from a football fan should be complete without a visit to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium and the iconic Old Trafford of Manchester United fame. The city also has a vibrant theatre scene with a number of iconic theatres including the wonderful Royal Exchange. As you would expect for such a vibrant place, there are also various cinemas (including an IMAX one) and other attractions to enjoy in the fabulous city.

Shopping Manchester

Shoppers in Manchester are in for a treat. The city centre is, as you would expect full of all the high street names that you are familiar with. Afflecks Palace is the place to visit in the city if you want something a little bit different with its wide variety of stalls offering an amazing array of independent goods.

Out of town is the Trafford Centre, one of the largest retail centres in the UK and Europe. With nearly 300 shops and a host of eateries, if you can’t buy what you want in the Trafford Centre then it probably doesn’t exist.

Eating And Drinking In Manchester

Manchester has a vibrant social scene, much of it focused around the city’s Northern Quarter. Here you will find a mix of traditional pubs, exciting restaurants and sophisticated bars. Live music is on nightly and you can also enjoy live comedy too at the city’s iconic Frog and Bucket Comedy Club. The Printworks too is a popular venue and is the home of a range of clubs and eateries including a Hard Rock Cafe and a Tiger Tiger nightclub. For a more chilled out vibe, check out the Chorlton area of Manchester, where you’ll find some great independent bars and restaurants.
