Built by Sir Benjamin Hammett in 1795, the Hotel was originally his private residence. In fact, he loved it so much that he gave up the honour of the Lord Mayorship of London to remain at his beloved mansion house and was fined £1,000 for not doing his duties!

Situated in 7 acres of parkland alongside the picturesque River Teifi and just a short drive from a wide selection of stunning West Coast beaches, the Castell Malgwyn Hotel really is a retreat to get away from it all. Whilst staying here you will find red kites, buzzards, badgers, foxes and squirrels around the parkland or linger at the river’s edge for a glimpse of a kingfisher or otter. The Hotel is dog friendly, so why not discover the delights of our grounds whilst walking your canine friend.

Pembrokeshire is a wonderful place to explore. Whether walking, fishing, cycling, golfing, horse riding or water sports is your forte, the surrounding area has it all. There is also plenty of expert tuition available in the area to ensure you are able to make the most of your stay. The Hotel is more than happy to cater for fishermen, with its own private stretch of River Teifi, renowned for its sea trout and salmon. Alternatively, take it easy and soak up the sun on the Hotel’s sunken terrace, or, for the winter months, curl up with a book by the open fire in our charming library bar.

The owners, Michael and Suzy, endeavour to go that extra mile for all their guests, ensuring a very pleasant stay for all. The Hotel can accommodate up to 40 guests with 17 delightful en suite rooms, each one individually furnished and decorated. Castell Malgwyn is renowned for its food, prepared by its superb chefs, using locally caught fish, locally farmed meat and fresh ingredients. The restaurant offers first class cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. Choose a fine wine from our extensive cellars; we have something for every palate and every pocket. Afterwards you can relax in the beautiful lounge or in the library bar over a quiet drink, contemplating your next day’s activities.
