Jacks is launched at The Kings Hotel, Christchurch

The Kings Hotel, Christchurch are celebrating the launch of a new restaurant overlooking the beautiful Kings Arms Bowling Green.
The team at The Kings Hotel has been celebrating the successful launch of Jacks, the new place to eat in Christchurch. The name Jacks was chosen for the new restaurant because it overlooks the beautiful Kings Arms Bowling Green – and the jack is, of course, the target bowl! To enter into the spirit of things, the whole team at the restaurant, including new Head Chef Gary Cooke, took some time to learn the game from the expert bowling team based at the Club.

Claire Stepney, General Manager of The Kings Hotel comments: “The name Jacks was chosen as we wanted to celebrate our beautiful location – Jacks has great views over the Norman Hall, Priory, Christchurch Castle and the Kings Arms Bowling Green. We see the bowling green as a great asset for the Christchurch community and we are actively supporting the Club’s drive for new members. We will soon have a page on our own website to promote the Club and to encourage new members to join. After a great game of bowls, players can recharge at Jacks with a Dorset cream tea, a bowl of hand cut chips, a fabulous whole roasted fish or a cool glass of something delicious.”
Jacks’ menu celebrates seasonal produce from Dorset, Hampshire and Somerset on its menu. People can pop in and eat in a relaxed and informal atmosphere, choosing from simple dishes such as hand-picked Devon crab and avocado salad, to a traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings and afterwards, Jacks’ pudding buffet!
Claire Stepney continues: “We had a fantastic time learning to play bowls with the Club members. There are some really talented players at the Club and I think their enthusiasm rubbed off on a few of my team, who mentioned they might be joining up. We had a great time bowling and then we all headed over to the Bowling Pavilion for a traditional cream tea, prepared by Gary and the Chefs from Jacks.”
