UK hotel recruitment could rise
November 23, 2011
Leading industry figures have picked the UK out as a hotspot for future hotel investments.
Many believe hotel recruitment could now soar as Britain was named the most popular choice of destination for new hotel projects in a survey conducted by Deloitte. Forty six respondents chose the UK over four other European countries. Germany came in Second place with 30 per cent and France received 16 per cent of the votes.
The latest news from Deloitte also comes after PKF announced occupancy rates at hotels in some parts of the UK, namely Scotland, increased by 2.2 per cent in September.
It is a good boost for the UK, especially as the country and indeed the world face uncertain and turbulent economic times ahead. Despite the positive news however, the global head of advisory, travel hospitality and leisure at Deloitte believes we must still be wary as the future is ‘clouded by uncertainty’.
He said: “We all need confidence to make investment decisions and that continues to be in short supply. Hoteliers, of course, remain eternally optimistic.”
