Carrick Fergus is a port on Belfast Lough, County Antrim 9 miles northeast of Belfast. The town is named after Fergus’s rock—Fergus McErc was a 6th century king of Dalriada. Carrickfergus Castle is the one of the best preserved Norman castles in Ireland. The town is seated in a largely hilly county that is ideally suited to those with a love for the outdoors.
