Lochgilphead is a resort town 20 miles southwest of Inveraray, on Loch Gilp, an inlet of Loch Fyne, in Argyll and Bute. The Crinan Canal is close by, as is Crinan itself, and towards the north is the historic capital of Dalriada at Dunadd. Continuing northwards you will find the similarly, archeologically rich, Kilmartin Glen. Furthermore, the south and west herald the relatively unknown area of Knapdale, containing a highly indented shoreline of rich treasures such as Tayvallich.
