Kilmarnock is an industrial town 18 miles southwest of Glasgow, on Kilmarnock water in East Ayrshire. It is well regarded for its manufacture of textiles and more suitably, whisky blending, established in 1820 by a local grocer named John Walker. Kilmarnock also has an extensive connection with Robert Burns who lived at nearby Mauchline and described ‘the streets an’ neuks of Killie’. Kilmarnock has a vast history and some surprising and interesting areas to explore in and around the town.
