Motherwell is an industrial town, 11 miles southeast of Glasgow, in North Lanarkshire. It is traditionally a centre for iron and steel and had the largest steelworks in Britain before the First World War. Although Motherwell is largely dominated by its vast industrial inheritance it should be noted that it is within good distance to culturally rich Glasgow as well as some fantastic hills within the surrounding Scottish countryside
