Cardigan is a market town positioned at the mouth of the River Teifi in Ceredigion. It is roughly 15 miles northeast of Fishguard. It was formerly an important port and the town developed around a 12th century castle—site of the first known national Eisteddfod (a Welsh festival of music literature and performance) in 1176.
