Muirhall Holiday Cottages are 5* luxury self catering cottages situated in the Scottish countryside, and yet are within 40 minutes of both Edinburgh and Glasgow city centre’s and easily accessible by road or rail. West Calder and Carstairs railway stations are within 7-8 miles and pick up from the station is available.

The Murehall, part of the ancient farming lands of Carnwath, has its origins in the early 16th century. James IV of Scotland granted the land under Royal Charter to the Somervell family when the farmhouse and cottages would have housed the Laird and farm workers. Some of the remarkable features of the renovated cottages include the massive, solid oak trusses and beams throughout and the hand-made log beds. The original stone has been used in the refurbishment and the stone fireplaces have been rebuilt using finely finished sandstone and South African granite.

Each beautifully appointed and maintained cottage boasts under floor heating; unique log or coal fires; en suite facilities; hairdryers; fully equipped kitchens; and satellite TV.

You can expect a warm welcome on arrival at the farm, together with a welcome basket in your cottage, which includes a bottle of wine.
